A zoo needed a lifting solution for the safe and ergonomic treatment of sedated animals. We delivered a custom-built stainless steel lift table that made work more ergonomically correct and the table easier to clean. The solution is popular and has been sold many times.
How do you treat large animals in a safe, hygienic, and ergonomic way?
In the zoo’s treatment facility, staff often work with large animals under sedation. To ensure safe handling and avoid physical strain, the team needed a lifting solution that could raise the animal to the correct working height. At the same time, the table had to be easy to disinfect thoroughly between procedures to maintain high hygiene standards.
Custom stainless steel lift table with built-in drainage and safety features
We designed a robust double scissor lift table in stainless steel with a lifting capacity of 2 tons. The material choice allows for intensive cleaning and disinfection, and the integrated drain – with optional hose attachment – ensures efficient cleaning after use.
The table was equipped with swivel wheels and brakes to enable easy positioning of the sedated animal without unnecessary dragging. For added safety, six removable fixing posts with eye bolts can be mounted on the platform. These allow staff to securely restrain the animal during treatment – protecting both the animal from falling as well as the personnel if the animal was to wake up ahead of schedule.
Better ergonomics, higher hygiene, and safer working conditions
The finished solution has significantly improved the working environment in the zoo. Staff now avoid heavy lifting and can work securely at the correct height. Animals are safer, and can be more easily transported. Cleaning is faster and more efficient, allowing for quick turnaround between treatments.
